As a member of the Council, Morocco will continue its action to implement the objectives defined in the Organization’s strategy in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, safety and security of ships, technical developments and training of seafarers, the ministry underlined
IMO is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships. The Council is the executive organ of IMO and is responsible, under the Assembly, for supervising the work of the Organization. The Council is made up of 40 Member States, elected by the Assembly for two-year terms
Candidat à l’un des vingt sièges de la Catégorie C du Conseil de l’OMI, le Maroc a pu engranger l’appui de la majorité des Etats membres de l’Organisation pour accéder à son 16ème mandat au sein du Conseil, grâce à la mobilisation de l’ensemble de l’appareil diplomatique du Royaume, en coordination étroite avec le Ministère du Transport et de la Logistique
Cette réélection reflète la crédibilité dont jouit la stratégie maritime que met en œuvre le Maroc, conformément aux Hautes Orientations de Sa Majesté le Roi Mohammed VI, que Dieu L’assiste, contenues dans Son Discours à l’occasion du 48ème anniversaire de la Marche Verte, annonçant une mise à niveau nationale de la façade atlantique du Royaume, pour en faire un haut lieu de communion humaine, un pôle d’intégration économique, et un foyer de rayonnement continental et internationalNation maritime par excellence par sa position géostratégique, sa longue tradition navale et le potentiel maritime que lui offrent ses 3.500 kilomètres de côtes s’étalant sur ses façades maritimes méditerranéenne et atlantique, le Royaume apporte une contribution substantielle à la réalisation du mandat de l’OMI, dont il est membre depuis 1962
En tant que membre du Conseil, le Maroc poursuivra son action pour la mise en œuvre des objectifs définis dans la stratégie de l’Organisation dans les domaines de la protection de l’environnement, des changements climatiques, de la sécurité et de la sûreté des navires, de l’évolution technique et de la formation des gens de mer
L’Organisation Maritime Internationale est une institution spécialisée des Nations Unies, chargée d’assurer la sécurité et la sûreté des transports maritimes et de prévenir la pollution des mers par les navires
Le Conseil de l’OMI, composé de quarante membres, est l’instance chargée de la supervision de ses travaux et de la coordination des activités des organes de l’Organisation
