Tourism Minister Voices Gratitude to The Leadership

 

  On the occasion of the Council of Ministers’ approval of the organization of the Ministry of Tourism, His Excellency Minister of Tourism Mr. Ahmed bin Aqil Al Khateeb conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, praising the Cabinet’s generous approval. Al Khateeb also stressed that the tourism sector in the Kingdom is witnessing major leap and receives big support from the wise leadership just as other sectors, out of the leadership’s belief in the tourism sector that enjoys major economic and development impacts that the ministry is working to improve, whether through providing an opportunity for further and diversified investment channels and fields or through increasing the employment opportunities.

The approval of the organization of the Ministry of Tourism is also an addition to several steps that have been implemented in this regard in a bid to support the tourism sector in the Kingdom and developing and diversifying its field so as to provide an attractive investment environment in the sector.

Al Khateeb concluded his statement with referring to the huge potential available in the Kingdom in terms of having the factors necessary to create a comprehensive and diversified tourism industry thanks to the big area of the Kingdom and diversified terrain and multiple geographical environments, which makes Saudi Arabia at the top of international tourist destinations by 2030, which represents one of the strategic goals of the national tourism as part of the Saudi Vision 2030. He also noted that the Kingdom was the first Arab country chosen by the World Tourism Organization to open a regional office, which reflects the status of the Kingdom on the world map of the tourism sector in addition to its being a member in the G20 that is currently chaired by Saudi Arabia, praying to God to protect the leadership and homeland and to bless the efforts exerted to realize all aspirations and ambitions.

Tourism Minister Expresses Appreciation for the Leadership over the Approval of the Council of Ministers for the Ministry to Contact the World Tourism Organisation on the International Academy to Train Workers in the Tourism Sector

His Excellency Minister of Tourism Mr. Ahmed bin Aqil Al Khateeb conveyed gratitude for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH Crown Prince – May God protect them – following the approval of the Cabinet for the Tourism Ministry to contact the World Tourism Organisation and coordinate with other stakeholders to take procedures necessary to prepare official requirements to inaugurate a regional office for the organisation in Riyadh and complete arrangements necessary to establish an international academy specialised in training and developing the capabilities of workers in the tourism sector.

Al Khateeb stressed that the move highlights the leadership’s interest in the tourism sector in the Kingdom and that action through an international cooperation mechanism provides a professional environment that can contribute to increasing the quality of services presented to tourists and playing a role in providing necessary information that can enrich work in the tourism sector, noting that the ministry, in cooperation with the World Tourism Organisation, will prepare standards and criteria that can enable the academy to be among the best tourist academies in the world.

His Excellency also pointed out that the Kingdom, through heading the G20 summit and discussing the future of the tourism sector, sought to consider the interests of all brotherly counties in the region, noting to adopting some initiatives that aim at the recovery of the tourism sector at the international level in the post-COVID-19 period.

Among these initiatives, Al Khateeb​ added, is creating a platform to exchange expertise at the international level, where the Kingdom launched a local initiative to stimulate the tourism sector through the “Saudi Summer” Season that covered eight destinations inside the Kingdom and witnessed a big turnout from citizens and residents.

He also said that the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation commended the season during his visit to the Kingdom and touring several destinations in the season last week.

His Excellency also expressed optimism for the Kingdom, in cooperation with the organisation, to contribute to launching several initiatives to develop the tourism sector in the region.
