Being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, for the third time since independence, Tunisia has indeed brought to the table the issue of reforming the SecurityCouncil
In particular, it highlighted the need to broaden its membership in order to meet the principle of equitable geographical distribution and ensure a more adequate representation of the interests of developing countries

La Tunisie s’emploie, en matière de politique étrangère, à pallier les inégalités qui caractérisent les relations internationales, en accordant une importance majeure aux Nations Unies, en tant que cadre propice à l’action commune
Depuis son adhésion à l’organisation des Nations Unies, au lendemain de son indépendance, la Tunisie n’a jamais cessé de consolider son apport aux multiples oeuvres de l’ONU et à ses actions internationales.Prenant part aux débats qui se déroulent au sein de l’ONU, la Tunisie, a participé récemment à la 65eme session de l’assemblée générale qui a abordé des questions sur lesquelles l’Organisation porte son attention ces dernières années. Il s’agit, notamment, de la réforme du système onusien en vue de le rendre plus apte à évoluer au rythme des développements et des défis de l’heure
Lors de son élection membre non permanent du conseil de sécurité, pour la 3ème fois depuis son indépendance, la Tunisie a, en effet, évoqué la question de la réforme du conseil
Elle a fait notamment ressortir la nécessité d’élargir sa composition, de façon à satisfaire au principe de la répartition géographique équitable et à garantir la représentation des intérêts des pays en développement
